New to Flex Body? Let us help you...
Do I need to book for each class?
We have several options for booking classes, either through the website or via the MindBody app (which makes the process super easy). We believe it’s best to book for classes as it makes a commitment for you and let’s us know how many people to expect. We would recommend you book for the Pilates ARC classes and Sunday’s Yoga Slow as these classes fill quickly. We don’t cancel classes so whatever shows on the timetable will be running.
Do I need to bring my own mat or other equipment?
We provide everything you need for your class. Studio mats are available for use at no charge and any additional props are available to use and stored in the studio room. Bare feet are recommended for all classes. Grip socks are optional and we have a great selection available for sale at the studio. Comfortable exercise clothing is recommended. We have lockers available for you to safely store valuables.
I’m a complete beginner – what classes are most suitable?
All of our classes are designed to suit all fitness levels, but we do have a couple of beginner friendly classes available. Our Yoga Stretch or Yoga Slow will ease you into Yoga, alternatively our Pilates class is great for beginners and people at all levels. If you’re nervous about Barre, ease in with our Barre Bliss on Saturday afternoons.
Can I do Yoga if I’m not flexible?
Yes! Anyone can do yoga, it’s about working with your body, not against it. With regular practice, your flexibility will improve and you’ll be stronger and more supple. It’s important to appreciate that our bodies change and what you were able to do several years ago may be different to what you can do now. Take today as your starting point and celebrate the changes you feel going forward.
I haven’t exercised in a while, which classes should I start with?
We recommend that you start slow. Suddenly launching into a vigorous exercise program could result in injury. Yoga Stretch, Pilates and Yoga Slow are all great options. Once you’re comfortable add in the Pilates Sculpt, Yoga Sculpt, Yoga Flow and Barre classes. Don’t hesitate to try a harder class, you can always take a rest or the instructor will be able to guide you to an easier option.
What if I have an injury?
If you have an existing injury or any condition that will impact you during a class, please advise the instructor prior to the class so they can provide you with modifications to ensure you enjoy the best possible experience.
If you would prefer specific support and advice please speak to us about Private classes. We can match you with a suitable, experienced instructor to ensure you’re return to exercise is safe and supported.
What is Barre?
Barre is a ballet-inspired workout that mixes ballet movements with other disciplines including Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training. This class is high intensity, low-impact and designed to tone your body, creating longer, leaner muscles. A fabulous way to build stamina and give your metabolism a boost!
I’m keen to get started… what should I do?
The first step is to sign up for your Intro Pass – this gives you 2 weeks of unlimited classes for just $20 and is available for everyone who is new to Flex Body. You can do this online (under the Pricing tab) or we can process this for you in studio. Next, take a look at the Timetable tab and decide which class you’d like to attend. If you’re unsure about any of the classes shown please just call us on 0415 131 032 to have a chat. Once you’ve decided, just book your class from the Timetable page. You’ll be prompted to enter your email and password. If you’re unsure, just call us and we’ll book you in.
How should I prepare for class?
Drink water throughout the day and avoid eating heavily for two hours prior to class. Please arrive at the studio at least 10 minutes before class so you can check in, store your belongings in a secure locker and get set up.
When should I arrive?
We ask that you arrive 10 mins prior to the class start time so we can welcome you to Flex Body and introduce you to your instructor. We like to ensure that everyone is put at ease and is comfortable – we’ll show you the studio space and alleviate any concerns you may have. If you have any health concerns, please inform the instructor at the beginning of class so they provide you with any modifications necessary to keep you safe.
What if I arrive late to class?
As a studio we value your time so we ensure that all our classes start and finish on time. If you are a few minutes late, we understand, just quietly join the class. For your safety, if you are more than 10 minutes late we do not advise that you attend. The class will have completed their warm-up and you may put yourself at risk of injury. All our classes run for 50min.
What is the cancellation window on classes?
We do appreciate that life happens, and things do suddenly come up that’s why we ask that you cancel at least 90min prior to the class.
Can I practice Yoga, Pilates or Barre while I am pregnant?
We ask that you have your doctor’s approval prior to beginning any exercise program.
We would recommend Yoga as the best option for pregnancy which will provide the opportunity for safe movement, improved sleep and reduced anxiety. It is important that you advise your instructor and the studio owner prior to the class. Please feel free to call us on 0415 131 032 to chat with us about your best options.
Can I bring my child?
Whilst we adore little ones, our classes are an opportunity to take some time out for yourself, child free.
Who should I ask if I have questions?
We’re here to help you have the best experience possible. Any questions specific to your class should be directed to the instructor at the time of the class. Any general questions or comments should be directed to the studio owner, Anita, who is usually found at reception or can be contacted by phone 0415 131 032 or via email email@example.com. We welcome any comments or suggestions so we can ensure Flex Body delivers to your expectations each and every time.
